Construction

SHAMROCK uses an ISO NPG (isophthalic neopentyl glycol) gelcoat. This is a premium gelcoat with enhanced UV inhibitors and improved flexibility characteristics which reduced fading, chalking and cracking. SHAMROCK chooses the off-white exterior to prevent undue maintenance caused from fading and chalking. The off-white color also reduces glare on bright days.

The stringer system is a transverse braced, box grid stringer system specifically designed to offer an extremely tough boat for the harsh, saltwater environment.

Some manufacturers rotate molds several times a day however we at SHAMROCK keep the boat in the mold through the full cycle of transom and stringer installation. The boat is removed only after it is fully cured in the mold.

SHAMROCK employs the tried and true method of a solid glass hull. History has shown solid glass construction to be superior for long-life and dependability. Cores have a tendency to flex, crack and breakdown with continuous harsh sea conditions.

SHAMROCK not only meets and exceeds USCG and ABYC criteria, we are also participating in the NMMA certification program.

Equipment

Avoid using fuels with alcohol additives. Gasoline that is an alcohol blend will absorb moisture from the air which can reach such concentrations that "phase separation" can occur whereby the water and alcohol mixture becomes heavy enough to settle out of the gasoline to the bottom of the tank. Phase separation can cause the engine to run very poorly or not at all. This condition is more severe with methyl alcohol and will worsen as the alcohol content increases. Water or a jelly like substance in the fuel filters are indications of phase separation from the use of alcohol blended fuels.

SHAMROCK uses type 316 stainless steel for all deck hardware installations. Bow rails are one-piece welded units of type 316 stainless steel and mounted to the deck with blind fasteners. Both types of stainless steel are polished to a mirror finish to reduce corrosion.

All livewells are rounded which aids in circulation and keeping bait alive and healthy.

SHAMROCK boats are constructed for strength and durability. We recommend either bunk or roller type trailers, whichever type you are most comfortable using. Your dealer may assist you with the decision process. The trailer should be properly rated for the loaded weight of your boat. It should also be set up correctly for the contour of the hull bottom. We provide trailer specifications to all major trailer manufacturers.

Features / Bennefits

Every model within the SHAMROCK line has sufficient beam to provide unparalleled stability. The advertised length is not an overall length. This length is simply from the stem to the top of the transom which in turns gives you more usable space. Not having space taken up by a cumbersome motor will make the boat feel much larger as well.

Quality is built into the boat at every step of the process versus attempting to inspect it in at the end of the process. All craftsmen at SHAMROCK are mindful to the smallest detail.

Maintenance

To prevent replacing your upholstery, we recommend the following:

Regular washing with mild detergent and warm water or vinyl cleaners is sufficient to keep the cushion and vinyl coverings in good condition. Keep the cushion from becoming soaked, and dry thoroughly after washing to prevent mildew accumulations when the boat is covered. Prop up the cushions in the boat when it is covered to take advantage of air circulation. Spray with a mildew repellent. While your vinyl is made to withstand the elements, it is important to care for it by keeping it clean at all times. Many substances may stain your vinyl if left untouched over a period of time. Remember to remove any contaminant and clean vinyl immediately. Our vinyls are made to withstand the effects of sun, heat, acid rain and soiling, under normal conditions. Please consult the following cleaning recommendations before cleaning your upholstery:

Certain household cleaners, powdered abrasives, steel wool, and industrial cleaners can cause damage and discoloration. These are not recommended for use. Dry cleaning fluids and lacquer solvents should not be used as they will remove the printed pattern and gloss.

Waxes are not recommended because many contain dyes and solvents that can permanently damage the protective coating. In some instances, consumers have reported the appearance of a pink stain on vinyl that is resistant to various cleaning methods.

Lab tests indicate that the pink stain has been present in the past, but it becomes more visible to the naked eye whenever the whitest-white vinyls are used. This is true regardless of manufacturer or vendor. Shamrock has chosen a white that reduces the appearance of the pink stain but retains as much of the lightest white we can use. Although there can be other causes for pink staining in vinyls, most pink stains are caused by dyes produced by micro-organisms. These dyes are metabolic products of the micro-organisms, otherwise known as a form of fungi. It is virtually impossible for consumers to avoid these micro-organisms as they exist in the atmosphere. It is also more prevalent in high-humidity areas. Rain can cleanse the air with the result that the micro-organisms are deposited on items such as marine vinyl. While the vinyl is treated to resist the growth of micro-organisms meaning the vinyl is not a food source), the stain results from failure to properly clean and maintain the vinyl. This means that after use, the upholstery must be cleaned with a soft brush and warm soapy water, followed by a thorough rinse with clean water. If this procedure is not followed, the micro-organisms can find the marine vinyl to be a suitable host site. This situation is worsened if the boat is stored without proper ventilation or if the boat cover is put on while the vinyl is still wet, creating a situation in which all forms of fungi (mold and mildew) thrive. The organism causing the pink stain has been identified by the Burlington Scientific Corporation as Streptoverticillium reticulum, although there are other strains of organisms that can cause stains.

Failure to follow these instructions in the proper care of upholstery can cause your warranty to be voided!

The cleaning table presented in this frequently asked question section is offered only as a suggestion and as an aid in attempting to deal with stains. We cannot guarantee that the cleaning methods will work. Stains from any external source are unlikely to be covered by warranty.

If the boat is in a covered, protected area, deck plates can be removed allowing air circulation under the deck. Transom plugs should be removed and the boat should be stored with the bow high to allow water to drain. The fuel tanks should be topped off and a stabilizer added. Your dealer can also assist you with the winterization of the engine(s).

SHAMROCK is designed to run under normal conditions without trim tabs. Under certain weather conditions and load conditions, all boats can benefit from adjustable trim tabs. Trim tabs provide the advantage of planing a boat at optimum performance through the complete range of speeds. Trim tabs are recommended for boats 21' and larger.

Having a heavy motor in the middle of the boat and located low in the bilge is the best area possible to provide the finest and most stable ride available.

The outboard transom bracket provides several significant attributes which are worth mentioning. 1. Positioning of the motors on a bracket outboard of the transom allows for significant enhancement of the interior design by virtue of allowing all mechanical aspects of the motor (i.e. wiring, fuel lines, steering mechanism, etc.) to be mounted out of sight. This allows the interior of the transom to take on the appearance of much larger inboard boats. 2. The positioning outboard of the transom also creates a noise barrier between the engine and occupants of the boat. This results in a significant reduction in noise level. In some cases, the full transom is appealing because it provides a barrier from following seas.
